I was devastated. I’d just lost the manufacturer that I depended on to make my private label product line, New Options.
My star product was gone and my clients were in a scramble to try to replace the famed Alkaline Mineral Softener, a chemical-free softener for super curly hair.
I discovered a product on Amazon, after a little research, that I thought might be a good substitute, for the Alkaline Mineral Softener, Baka Beautiful Naturalaxer Mix.
I had the perfect solution and a way out of my disappointing dilemma.
I didn’t have my product line anymore, so I decided to do the next best thing; sell someone else’s product.
I became an Amazon Affiliate and sent my new product recommendations to my 4,000 client email list.
Almost immediately, I started making money. It was amazing and I thought I’d found the answer to my problem.
The way you make money as an Amazon Affiliate is you create content on your website and Amazon gives you a special link with a code that lets them know if you personally direct someone to an Amazon page or product.
If someone clicks one of your links and makes a purchase from Amazon you get a commission.
What’s even cooler is, even if the customer who clicked your link doesn’t buy the product you recommended, but does buy something else within 24 hours, you still get paid.
I was literally getting paid for people who were buying water and door hinges and did not buy the product that I recommended.
I remember waking up one morning to $1.12 in my account. That was cute, but the next day it was $4.56 and this went on for two weeks; every day I made a little money from recommending only 1 product.
This speaks volumes to owning a email list; they’re extremely valuable.
The only mistake I made was, you can’t send traffic from links that you place in your emails. Your links have to be placed on your website content or from your social media post and if you are placing links in you social media post, you can’t use advertising to promote your posts. It’s goes against Amazon’s Affiliate policies.
